I had the opportunity to study at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto for approximately 9 months. Unfortunately, I had to move and was unable to move to the next levels of the training (which would have taught me how to paint). I'm very thankful for the foundational teaching I received there and would recommend it to anybody who is serious about developing as an artist.
Well, I see what you mean. Except for your furious " mad skies", it seems that your approach of painting is classic, often " academic" in the good sense of the term . The way you exclusively paint the human face , always "classic" and realist, not trying to embellish your model is patricularly interesting. When watching "David", I can't help thinking of Le Titien,( the skin) may be Greco ( the eyes). I have always thought ( I am old...) that the human body and face are able to reveal the talent of the artist, more than anything else. Am I right? You must understand that I'm French , not used to think and write in English. I am always looking for the right word, at the right place....( And I hate computers!) I'm tired! but, thank you for the invitation to spend some months in your Academy!
